Post application visit afternoons - Leeds School of Mathematics

Post application visit afternoons

If we make you an offer we will also invite you to one of our visit afternoons, which will run between February and April. This is your chance to get a feel for studying maths at Leeds and to gather all the information you need to help you make your final choice. The format will depend on the course you have applied for, but the programme for a typical afternoon may be:

1.15pm Introductory Talk by one of the Admissions Tutors.

2.00pm Campus Tour led by current students.

3.00pm Talk about accommodation by University of Leeds Accommodation Services.

3.15pm Talk by Year Abroad or Year in Industry student.

3.30pm Questions.

3.40pm Tea and biscuits with staff and students.

There is plenty of opportunity to ask questions with our staff and students. We aim to help you make your decision in as well-informed manner as possible. 40% of those who visited us at one of our PAVAs this year put us down as their firm choice.

Parents
Parents are very welcome to attend the whole afternoon and see what the city, the University and the School of Mathematics have to offer.

Special requirements
If you have any special requirements for your visit please let us know when you sign up for your day so that we can do our best to make your days as accessible and enjoyable as possible.

Getting here
Directions to the School of Mathematics and detailed advice on travel to Leeds are available here.

University Open Days
If you are not ready to make an application, but you would like to look round the University, you should try and attend one of the University's Open Days.

Attending an open day is a great way to get a taste of what Leeds has to offer and find out if it is the right university for you. These University Open Days are in June and October each year. On these days you can visit the School of Mathematics to:

  • Listen to a talk about why you should study maths, and what it's like to study at one of the best schools of mathematics in the UK
  • Meet staff and students, and ask whatever questions you may have.
  • Take a look around the campus facilities, and the School of Mathematics

Independent visits and online chats

We recognise that some applicants may, for good reasons, not be able to attend an Open Day or Post Application Visit Afternoon (for example if they are living abroad). If is the case for you, we might be able organise an independent visit, or to answer your questions through an online chat.  If you are interested in one of these options, please contact our Admissions Team.

Further information
If you require any further information about entry requirements, interview days or the application process, please contact our Admissions Team by email or on + 44 (0)113 343 5133.
