Study abroad

The University of Leeds offers a wide variety of study abroad opportunities to UG students throughout Europe, North & South America, Australia and Asia. The majority of students go overseas in their third year extending their degree to a four year programme. Most students obtain a 'European' or 'International' degree title by participating on the Erasmus programme.
The Study Abroad Office provides advice to students throughout the application process and throughout the period spent overseas. Each department has an academic Study Abroad Coordinator who provides advice on the programme of study taken overseas.
The University of Leeds has a Foreign Language Teaching Unit where students can study the relevant language prior to studying overseas. Some students can choose language modules which count towards their final degree. The FLTU is a new state-of-the-art Language Centre which aims to promote `languages for all' across the University.
The Study Abroad Office provides advice to students on travel and accommodation arrangements. A pre-departure programme is arranged each May and January which covers areas such as; researching the partner institutions, financial information and what is expected during the period overseas. All students are provided with a detailed pre-departure handbook.
