School of Mathematics: EPSRC CASE AstraZeneca Scholarship
Available for UK/EU candidates: this is an EPSRC CASE award with AstraZeneca and the project is entitled: "Vascular receptor-ligand binding and signalling". This award provides full academic fees at the UK/EU rate together with £13,590 pa maintenance for 3.5 years plus additional maintenance of £3,500 pa for 4 years from AstraZeneca.

Closing Date for applications is 31 July 2012 for a start date of 01 September 2012.
The School has a number of PhD studentships available such as the doctoral training grants funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC).
Doctoral Training Grants
Value of award - full UK/EU Fees + maintenance (£13,590 for 2011/2012) for up to three and a half years, subject to satisfactory progress.
Number available - Variable
Closing date - Open – no specified closing date, but applications should be made preferably no later than March in order to be considered for funding to start in September/October. Please contact the School of Mathematics for further details.
Minimum academic requirements - Applicants should have, or expect to obtain, a minimum of a UK upper second class honours degree in Mathematics or a related discipline, or equivalent. Applicants whose first language is not English must also meet the University's English language requirements.
Additional information
EPSRC
Fully funded studentship for students satisfying EPSRC UK residency rules. Fees only for other EU students. For students specialising in statistics, an additional Targeted Enhanced Stipend (TES) of £2,000 per year for three years may be possible (a separate application will be required).
STFC
Fully funded studentship for students satisfying STFC UK residency rules. Fees only for other EU students. Studentships are restricted to those working in the area of Astrophysical and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics.
