Dr Stuart Barber
Postgraduate Research Tutor - Statistics

I coordinate the postgraduate research student admissions process for Statistics, including finding a supervisor for every applicant, making decisions on who we make offers to and how to distribute funding. I share overall responsibility for the postgraduate programme in mathematics with the other postgraduate research tutors in the School of Mathematics.

My current areas of research include statistical modelling of immune processes, evolutionary data, and the application of wavelet methods in statistics.  For more details, see my profile page.

Dr Stephen Griffiths
Postgraduate Research Tutor - Applied Mathematics

I coordinate the postgraduate research student admissions process for Applied Mathematics, including finding a supervisor for every applicant, making decisions on who we make offers to and how to distribute funding. I also share overall responsibility for the postgraduate programme in mathematics with the other postgraduate research tutors in the School of Mathematics.

I am also programme director for the MSc in Atmosphere-Ocean Dynamics and research the fluid dynamics of the Earth's atmosphere and ocean. This typically involves developing simplified mathematical models of physical processes and running appropriate computer simulations, in order to help explain observed dynamical phenomena. For example, at the moment I am quite involved in modelling ocean tides. For more information see my profile page.
