Background
The algebra group covers a large area of pure mathematics.
Our interests include the following topics:
-
Noncommutative algebra - Hecke algebras, group algebras,
quiver algebras, etc. - and links with algebraic geometry and
representation theory.
-
Homological algebra, tilting theory,
derived categories, triangulated categories.
-
Kac-Moody Lie algebras, quantum groups, cluster algebras.
-
Representation theory of finite-dimensional associative
algebras and quivers.
-
Group Theory.
Our research is related to other important areas of mathematics
and physics, such as algebraic geometry, algebraic topology,
integrable systems, statistical mechanics and string theory.
We welcome qualified students who would like to do a
Ph.D. in Algebra. If you are interested you should contact
the Pure Postgraduate Tutor, or any member of the algebra
group.
